Day 38: 3 Bollywood Movies

Great Bollywood movies aren't always easy to find. Especially if you're scrolling through Netflix. If you are the kind of person that has been afraid to jump in here are my 3 suggestions for Bollywood Movies to watch on Netflix (I promise you won't be disappointed):

1. Barfi
This movie is life changing. It reminds you that some movies are actually worth your time. This movie is so beautifully directed. The cinematography is so unique. Barfi is the story of a deaf young man. Very few people take him seriously but Barfi is one of the most loving, charismatic and confident people. One day he runs into a beautiful girl and falls in love (girl on the left). However, she is engaged. She doesn't expect to fall in love with Barfi so she starts spending time with him since she has a long vacation and very little else to do. But eventually she falls in love with Barfi's ability to forget about the judgments of others and just enjoy life. Eventually she has to choose between her fiance's security and Barfi's love. Her choice sends them both down unexpected paths.
If you like amazing music, awesome actors and scenic sets this movie is for you. Actually, absolutely everyone should see this movie. I can't think of anyone that wouldn't love it.
(Ok... its not exactly Bollywood; there aren't any songs or dancing, but it is in Hindi)

2. Chennai Express
Hilarious. If you want to laugh, you should watch this one. This is my favourite Sharukh Khan movie. Its about a guy who plans to go on an adventure with some friends but takes the wrong train (sort of) and gets mixed up with some gangsters when he tries to help a beautiful girl. Thre is a whole lot more to the plot than that but i'll leave it as a surprise.
The music is addicting and the scenery is beautiful. They show a lot of South India (Tamil Nadu) throughout the film. Its the kind of film that subtly has a deep message (uniting north and south as one nation). This is my favourite song:

3. Jodha Akbar
It might not be super historically accurate but look at these two beautiful actors! If you know anything about the moghul empire then you will know how revered Akbar was as emperor. This is the story of his marriage to a Hindu princess (?) named Jodha. I just love Hrithik Roshan so this movie is wonderful:) Once again the music is perfection... obviously, since it was composed by A.R. Rahman.
Okay... I've even convinced myself to go watch this now.
(Do. It. Why else does anyone have Netflix?)

Other suggestions: Kismat Konnection (YAY Bollywood in Canada), Veer Zara (Sharukh Khan again), and Kahaani (mystery).

I hope I've convinced you to give it a shot :) There is some great stuff out there.

And now I'm going to go watch some Jodha Akbar.
BYE!
