Day 12: Saris and Sankranti

This day has been BUSY! It's late so here are some pictures and just a few words about how we celebrated Sankrati:

The day began with some muggu drawing. Durga (our cook) is the artist. She let us help her a little. She laughed a lot at our sad attempts :) But it was nice of her to teach us!

Since we were going to celebrate Sankranti at a friend's house we all dressed up in our saris! Durga and Sailaja dressed us like dolls and then lent us earrings and necklaces. It was so sweet!

We went to watch a ritual in a village with one of our translators and her husband. These men carried this tree shrine around to every house and sang a blessing at each doorstep.

These were some of the kids in the village :) They were dressed up so cute!

We finished off the night by going to a party at one of our teacher's friend's houses! I met so many people who have children living abroad (which is what my research is on)! So it was a great opportunity for me :) They fed us lots too. You can never say no to food in India. haha they just give it to you anyways.

Happy Sankranti!
